I had one,... to tell ya the truth.. Nope.. it basicly will not make your car faster as long as it is still stock. On the prelude.. Vtec is already at a perfect place. You can lower Vtec so it can kick in early but it usually will slow you down and maybe even fuel cut earlier.

I argue this very Strongly. If you had upgraded cams. .. It may benifit you to lower vtec. But as long as its mostly stock... Its not great at all.

You can also adjust Fuel curves with the controller... But only to a minimum.
Its not a very strong tuning device.

+1 for it looks pretty cool.

Like rory said it doesn't do much for you stock; and it's not the best thing for tuning if you have internals either. only with Intake/header/exhaust... things of that nature I would use a vafc. If your car is stock it won't do much.

a vafc is a fuel computer that tricks your MAP sensor into believing more or less air is entering through the throttle body thus making the computer make fuel adjustments to the "fake" changes in MAP.

You can street tune this controller very easily with just a wideband o2 sensor, however, the only thing you can adjust is WOT. To my knowledge this device cannot make adjustments in closed loop (part throttle).

If your car runs VERY rich like many of the stock ludes, especially the automatics, you can pick up a little bit of power just by taking out some fuel and getting the A/F around 13.5.

Your vtec transition needs to be adjusted on a dyno where you can SEE where the crossover needs to be placed.

If you can get this device for under 100 bux and can get it tuned for 100 bux, its probably a good investment if you dont ever plan on doing more than the basic i/h/e mods. Just be sure to get it tuned, because its just a blue box that shows some numbers without being tuned.

The big problem with a VAFC is it's only a "quick fix" if you will. All it really does is trick the ECU.

A friend of mine has one on his B18C VTEC Integra (RSX) and the end result is the VAFC compensating the ECU, and the ECU not realising, and compensating for the VAFC.

The end result is an absolute ****load of black smoke any time the cam changes over. This is of course nothing more than an extreme case of the thing not being tuned correctly.

My advise would be to get one if you plan on doing the I/H/E mods, or maybe cam gears. (But ensure you have it tuned on a dyno by somebody who is clever with Honda engines, because for some reason, theonly people who can make Honda engines run better than Honda are people who've worked on lots of them.) If you plan on going further than that, then an S100 Hondata would be the way to go.
