Icon5 Help with main bearings

I have to get some main bearings for my 97 prelude. I don't have the old bearings so I don't know what color bearings to get. The number on my block is 33343. I have the Honda manual but I don't get how to figure out which colors are right. Can someone please help me out.

Thanks

Re: Help with main bearings

Without the old bearings I think it's gonna be kinda hard. I'm not positive about this but I'm pretty sure you check the clearances with the stock/old bearings, then if they're too loose or tight you buy the appropriate new bearings. Hopefully someone else can verify this cuz I'll be using/needing this info as well pretty soon.

Re: Help with main bearings

Look at the stamping on the block, then the stamping on the crank. Match them up on the chart of the service manual and it will tell you what bearing color was used when the engine was assembled. It tells you in the manual where to look on the block and crank. Now the tricky part is to Make sure you read the correct number or letter on the crank, because the crank has a code on it for the mains as well as the rod bearings. Hope this helps.
