Stock Air Intake

I am thinking about putting the stock Air intake back on my car. I will be putting a K&N air filter in there. My question is, will it make the engine quieter and will performance suffer all that greatly?

Thanks
Brad

Re: Stock Air Intake

The engine will be quieter most definitely, and performance will hardly suffer.

Re: Stock Air Intake

you do know that there is a sticky dedicated to intakes right? your power will actually increase because it's dyno proven that stock + k&n - resonator makes the most power. even though 2 hp doesn't matter at all anyway

tell a pro car driver that 2hp doesnt matter especially on a N/A and he will drop kick you. 2hp is still some power, every little adds up

Re: Stock Air Intake

ya, 2hp might matter if you are a PRO DRIVER. but on a stock lude it really doesnt.

oh, and let me rephrase that. vs a v2, the stocker has .21hp less. that doesnt make a differance. against a regular shortram though, the stock has 6ish more. sure, it matters. but you wont feel it at all

Re: Stock Air Intake

it does improve "growl" at certain RPMS with a short ram..

but i noticed the same type of beef when i deleted the butterfly resonator.. but kept the stock airbox.. no sure if i'm doing to short ram it or not..bc i like a stock look..

Re: Stock Air Intake

I had a K&N filter on my old jeep. All it does it maybe give you half a horse power and make you think its a little faster but thats just imagination lol. However you'll never have to change it, and a K&N sticker(I hear them stickers add the "real hp") lol

Re: Stock Air Intake

Man, stickers are the best dollar to hp things you can get. I slapped one on my car and gained an easy 50hp.

Re: Stock Air Intake

So I guess it was a bad idea to buy an AEM intake for my ride?

Re: Stock Air Intake

because it was dyno proven that the stock intake with the K&N filter is better...?

Re: Stock Air Intake

ya, but its all really personnal preferance. i shopped for a while on what intake i wanted. i got a type s. i only really got it because my stock intake was almost ripped in half, and i still wanted a stock look. unless youre doing some crazy big budget build and youre after every hp you can get, it doesnt really make a differance. youll never be able to feel 2-4hp. plus aftermarket intakes dress up your engine bay a little bit. just put a k&n cone on the end of that shortram

Re: Stock Air Intake

personally i like my CAI better even though CAI doesnt usualy add much hp. I got a blue ac autotechnics CAI the because i like how it mounts the filter in a cooler place(behind bumper) and i got an AEM filter. Sounds great feels a little differnt
