awkward clunk on takeoff

there's always something....
but i've got this awkward clunk on takeoffs right about when you finally let off the clutch. happens really only in the cold. i know what you're thinking: suspension, but it doesnt do it when i got over bumps or potholes. happens on occasion when shifting into 2nd. could it be a motor mount? or would that happen all the time.

download link to recording of noise:

disregard about the first ten seconds, happens at about 11-12 seconds and at about 19-20.

ding ding dinggggggggg thats what i'm puttin my money on.

see if you can recreate the sound by revving the engine w/ the TB and looking/listening for the clunk. but usually always a "clunk" is a bad MM, especially when taking off.

Re: awkward clunk on takeoff

tried revving it from the TB and couldnt replicate it. is there any other way of testing? when it happens it seems like its coming from the area behind the radio so im afraid it's the transmission mount in the back.

Re: awkward clunk on takeoff

well is it an auto or 5spd ..??? if its an auto have someone powerbrake it on and off as you watch what the motor does. or take your hood off..so you don't ding it up and get a huge pry bar of some sort and try to move the motor if it actually moves then you have bad motor mount. but without all these tests we can assure you it is a bad mount.

Re: awkward clunk on takeoff

so i've decided that it's most likely that back tranny mount. now i raise the question, should i do the homemade stiff mounts?
