Re: need help on squeking noice in my prelude

thanks for reply. Could it be the belt is over tighten? I actually took a video when the noice in the car is there. but I cannot here it from the video. its really annoying. you can only hear it when you're inside the car with the window close.

Re: need help on squeking noice in my prelude

is it REALLY bad when you first start it up? then gradually goes away as the engine gets warmer? if so, one of your belts is too loose. both of them are easy as hell to tighten.

New belts stretch and you need to keep them tight.

Re: need help on squeking noice in my prelude

Hmmm, sounds like you are started to hear the little whine the water pump makes when the bearing starts to fail. I could be wrong, but seriously if you open the hood and you don't hear the squeal its not your fan belts. Get one of those stephoscopes (probably didn't spell that right) you know like the doctors wear anyhow, at the auto parts store they are about 10 bucks or so these are great to track down internal engine noises, anyhow hold that thing up to your timing belt cover right about where the water pump is and see if that magnifies your squeal sound, if so thats what you got a water pump about to fail. If this is the case get a timing belt job done ASAP.

thanks.. but all my belts are new including the water pump. I just changed them like around 8k miles ago, my mechanic use gates brand belt and gmb brand water pump.. really is there a stethoscope for car?. I never heard of it but I'll look for it.
