Koni's vs. Tein's

Kind of need help, I know I have looked at a huge amount of opinions but I have been looking into both, Koni only provides the stuts?, and with Tein I can get the entire system. I can get a huge deal on the Koni's though as my company I work for owns Koni and we get a 50% off retail or 10% off wholesale discount. Even with the discount I will end up with a bit over $350 in just the stuts so if I buy the coilovers from say skunk2 or something else I'm right back up to the prices of the Tein's so my question is whats better for for a sporty streetable application, I'm afraid the koni's are just too aggressive. Any input would be great thanks.

Re: Koni's vs. Tein's

Over 90% of the Preludes that are on the Auto-X scene use Koni Yellows and Ground Control coilover sleeves. This is the setup I will be purchasing...when I eventually get around to it.

But as for exactly what is streetable, that's entirely up to you. Some people are willing to take a stiffer ride because the handling is better, yet others who drive long distances over roads with questionable quality (like me) want something with more regular spring rates. Why not ride in a few cars with different setups and see what you like?

i have teins in my car. i love them. they came with it, so i really cant comment on the price. overall, its your car. like brash said, it all depends on the ride you want. also, if you can get good deals with konis, why not save a few bucks?

Re: Koni's vs. Tein's

I have KYB AGX's Adjustables (set on 3) with Ground Controls.

I live in philly. all the roads are questionable. It's at maybe a 2 1/2" drop and I don't have problem at all. That's my winter height. It's pretty smooth.

Jus throwing another option out there for you bud.

Well I don't really have a vast array for other setups to tryout. but I do understand what you are saying. I am a guy 37 years old and I like performance but still want a car thats comfortable to drive. I see a bunch off guys driving around and when they hit a slight bump they fly up out of their seats and hit their heads on the roof of the car. I don't want that.

I'm pretty sure thats what I am going for the Tein Base.

I'm heard good things about the AGX's but I think for the money the complete setup by Tein is the best option, thanks guys for your info. Oh by the way whats the price on ground control coilovers, that way I can weigh the option of Koni yellows and GC. Thanks again.

Re: Koni's vs. Tein's

I've got the koni yellow sp3's from nuespeed and I absolutely love them... paid 500 for em and with the eibach pro-kit it's definitely a stiff ride but they handle sooo well and look great

Re: Koni's vs. Tein's

Most say koni and ground control. I have Tein Flex and I am happy with that.

For best performance go with Koni and ground control. If you want electronic damper control at some point get the Tein.
