5th Gen Parts Car

I've been looking for a parts for some quiet some time. I was very picky, and it looks like my wait has paid off.

What are your thoughts on this bad boy:
Salvage Vehicle and General Sales

Item:1998 PRELUDEStock #:S096901VIN Number:JHMBB6140WC801394Kilometers:170000Particula rs:2DR, ,2.2,MANUAL,WHITE, AIR BAGS O.K.Type of Damage:RearInspections if Required:Requires Struct & Mech InspectionsLocation:Saskatoon STALL 114Reserve Bid:$500

The entire front end is fine. Air bags didnt deploy or anything. The car is 2 hours away in my brothers city. He said he would go take a look at it tomorrow and snap some pictures for me.

I ran the car fax on it just because I wanted to see what features it had

I didnt come up with much, and my bro will be able to tell me more tomorrow. However it does have

-Fogs
-Heated seats
-Heated Mirrors
-SH Rims
- Oem Spoiler ( that actually looks okay)

But most important. It has a 5sp Tranny.

Right now the bid is at $500, but what are your thoughts on it?

Im wondering the reason that car was written off. It was valued at $5000, so at that low of a price im wondering how much, if any frame damage was sustained. I'm an autobody guy, so i realize the price and time it would take to fix so much damage, but it might be a fun car to just have around and work on. Not to mention supply parts for my 5sp Swap

Thanks man. Ive got heated seats and mirrors already, but i busted one this summer on a pylon Guess it was a good lesson for me. So i want my passenger mirror to be heated again.

If you look closley at the pic on the right you can see the USDM foggies. The car fax has them reported as installed at purchase aswell.

It would be even better if it has the full leather interior. Im just awaiting pictures from my brother tomorrow. Im so excited I cant sleep!

** first post edited for your ease**

Thanks for the advice man. I know its easy to make some mad cash off of it. To bad its not a few years newer. I could have used it for parts on my baby.

Ive almost got the body parts to fix it too. That being said only if the frame is in decent condition. The car looks pretty good overall though. I dont think ive ever seen such a dirty lude

Agreed man, but I already have access to tails and a trunk. Its worth a thought.

Ive got a buddy thats ive been struggling to keep from leaving home for quiet some time. He's big into cars with me, but cant afford his own. Maybe this will help me keep him around, and give him something to take pride in and at the end hell I'd think about giving it to him. Helping my bud out, and keeping him on track is def worth the time and money.

I'm pretty sure that the frame is bent pretty bad there. You might be able to straighten it but I don't think it's going to be easy to sell after a wreck like that. Stick with using it as a parts car, strip everything you can off of it and sell the rest as scrap. If you can get that for $500 that is a helluva deal.

My thoughts exactly. Im getting someone to go look at the frame today. Even if I did fix it I would never sell it.

haha the mirrors are glorious. It MIGHT have command start aswell. Many canadian models had command start installed by dealers for a small charge. I'll keep you in mind for the mirrors if I do go through with it.

Please guys. Keep posted for parts. THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE THREAD

I'll post later tonight with my brothers findings

Thanks

You got it. I can also just give you my current ones in about a month. Im doing a JDM bumper and fenders, so I no longer have a use for them

The light looks like it might be alright. The whole spoiler looks good actually. I also have a broken spoiler that has a mint light. I need to get it from bill tho.

So im feeling the final verdict is dive in and go for it!

My brother was lazy and didnt get to seeing it, so I think i'll drive up this weekend and go check it out.

If it was just in a fender bender it would have been totalled. That will take alot more than 5 grand to put her back.

There is a White 01 near here where a kid just ran up under a truck just enough to dent the hood and crack the headlights. It was totalled. Its an auto I might just buy it for a spare motor to build and once I have that one built then I'll rebuild mine and have two nice Ludes. Plus my son is going to be 13 this year and he is already saying he wants a car like his dad's. How cool is that?
