My prelude tops out at 105

I want to take my car to the track, but my prelude tops out at 105, which is at 5000rpm, just before vtec.
Is this because of factory settings, or is something wrong with my car?

I have a 1998, automatic 4-speed.

Any info would be great.

I do engage in vtec gears 1-3, 4th won't let me reach that.
And i checked my oil yesterday, i was low 1 quart.
I added 1 quart, i'm good now. I may have been low when i tried reaching vtec in 4th gear.

Re: My prelude tops out at 105

ya man, we all said in one of your other threads that something is wrong and its prob an ecu thing or something along those lines. why the hell do you need to go over 105 anyway?

I love it when they answer their own questions. Yes its your car.

Did you check your oil level lately? Soleniod bad?

If you don't already know : THERE IS NO SPEED LIMITER ON OUR PRELUDES

I have had mine up to 145 but that is a stupid thing to do as our cars were not made to go that fast, they don't have the suspension or brakes for it. So 105 is a good speed for our cars on the track. Now its all about keeping that pace up and how fast you can get it up to that speed.

I had this issue before. For me it was a clogged Cat.

Re: My prelude tops out at 105

just keep flooring it lol

no seriously, could be many things, as stated above, a clogged cat, bad solenoid, oil problem, and I would think your ECU has something to do with your limit, since it tops straight out @ 105.

might wanna go check it out in a tunning shop
