new clutch questions

alrighty so today I got my Type R accord back today (h22a7) so I had to sign a waiver saying that royal purple oil is not specified my application and that they had no tech data on the car.. becuase its a uk spec blah blah blah.. thats not what is bugging me I had the clutch changed and now I am hearing a kind of squeek noise but goes away when the pedal is pushed in.. the mechanic also said the car sounds louder then it before the oil change( I think its running as advertised) but will my clutch make some noise? and also I saw a little but of smoke comming from behind the engine.. I have never broken in a clutch before so I am babying it.. and I am kind worried becuase I had to sign a waiver on the engine oil... not to mention the 350 euro to change my clutch and sqaure away my oil pan!..350=500 usd.. the mechanic is also saying the fly wheel is warped becuase when you let off the clutch slowly( I mean super slow) its vibrates a little.. any insight will be appreciated!

Re: new clutch questions

ask them if they changed the throwout bearing as well. usually every clutch kit comes with one and it should def be changed w/ every clutch, but ya never know it might still be the original one which would suck.

Re: new clutch questions

that was the main reason I wanted the clutch changed.. the throw out bearing was shot.. I know they put the new one in becuase I inspected the old one and that bad boy was indeeeeed shot!

Re: new clutch questions

the only thing that i can think of that could squeek thats related to the clutch is the TOB, but most of the time it squeeks when you push the clutch IN

is the flywheel stock or a new one?

Re: new clutch questions

hmmm... you might just need to break-in/seat the clutch against the flywheel properly than maybe the vibrations will go away. and hopefully the squeeking will go away too.
just remember to BABY it for at least 500 miles; no hard/fast shifting, no clutch slipping, etc..

Re: new clutch questions

That's one thing you should have done your self with the help of us preludewarriors . anyway its done your forgiven .The noise you said sound s like the throughout bearing but you said they changed it ,and also said that the flywheel was bad they should have asked if you want it changed because that's part of a good clutch job anyway hope that doesn't come back to bite you in the --a---- the guy should done that before doing the clutch .depending on the mileage the transmission could have a bad imput shat .witch could also be the noise just something to think of hopefully they set the fork .Keep posting for up dates Later
