Volk te37's do these look gunmetal to you? Custom painted look green

Just had my te 37's custom painted for the second time. I requested gunmetal and even printed out a picture of the le37 t's gunmetal with the machined lip I was trying to copy. Both times they painted them, the rims come out a drk green, not even close to any gun metal color I have seen. The first pic is the color they painted them, the second and third are the actual le37t's in gunmetal to see the difference in color. They know what I am looking for, I would accept anything that came out gray and somewhat dark. What do you guys think? I hate to ask again, but I don't want to settle. Worst case I would have them paint them black with the machined lip. I will be printing the responses to give to the company for some backup.

Thanks again for your time and opinions.

Don't you think they look pretty green though? I think they did a great job, they always do. I know they wouldn't look bad on the car, just not even close to what I was looking for. They do not look grey, or gunmetal at all to me.

hmm iono.. green on a a silver car.. not my taste.. if you feel like you don't like it or its going to bother you, just ask them to try again. Because you are just going to regret it later on or it will just keep bothering you later

I like em. And no, I think they look gunmetal, not green. Just ask em if they have a darker gunmetal....

EDIT: Ok in the first pic I can see what you are talking about...if the first pic is a good representation of the actually color then I'd just ask them to do black...

OR GOLD FMFW!!!

Re: Volk te37's do these look gunmetal to you? Custom painted look green

First thank you for the rapid responses, few replies.

They were originally te37's silver in color, had them machine the lip and paint them gunmetal which turned out a dark green gunmetal mix.

Yes they do look a lot greener in mine and my wife's opinion in person. Even one of the guys at the shop thought they looked green.

Yes the first picture is the actual picture of the rims. I took it and left them at the shop, didn't have the money to pick them up, my wife's car needed to be fixed at last minute.

I found a bunch of color codes of dark grey or gunmetal I could have them try.

Thanks

sorry not to be specific, I will edit. The first pic is the color they painted them. The second and third are the actual pictures of the real gunmetal te37's. You can easily see the contrast of colors that way.

Even if they truly are green I'd still rock em. They don't look half bad on the nordic mist.

i can def see the greenish tint in the first picture. I could be the shop doesnt have that exact color code. Have you tried checking out a website that can say the true color code for the rim in the second picture?

Re: Volk te37's do these look gunmetal to you? Custom painted look green

just go to the shop and pick out the actual color you want them to be. don't have them try to match anything. they do look green in the first pic, but it could also be the angle of the light

Re: Volk te37's do these look gunmetal to you? Custom painted look green

Mackin industries (Company that makes Volk) does not give out the color code, they responded nicely via email though. In response to picking out the color at the shop, we did that, the color looked exactly what I was trying to match. I couldn't believe from the color they showed me they came out in that green color. The other possibility is they did not repaint them at all from the first mess up. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt as I am a good Christian. Trust me, its not just the light, I have seen them in person next to a gunmetal rim and they are green.

Re: Volk te37's do these look gunmetal to you? Custom painted look green

I see green - but I will say that it still does look pretty good up against the car in the first pic.

If your set on rocking the gunmetal tho I would definitely take them back and have them re paint them - they should not make you pay for **** either cause you told them gunmetal and everyone and their mother knows that its a dark gray - and they are a BODY SHOP so that would make them know even more, or should make them know even more...the fact it turned green means they did something in the mixing process they shouldn't have.

Plus the TE37's are like $2,000 for a set of 4, with that kind of price tag I would want mine to be flawless as well!

Re: Volk te37's do these look gunmetal to you? Custom painted look green

Quick update for everyone. They had not even repainted them yet. They were still the same color as the first time. The guys that showed them to me had no idea and tried to pass them off as different. The manager greeted me when I came in and mentioned they had to order the color for me. I had a nice picture of what I wanted and he took it to make sure they matched it the best they could. I am glad that was solved because it was driving me nuts thinking about it. Its like returning your food at a restaurant. One time is already kind of embarrassing, but two times would be brutal. Thanks again for all your comments and help in distinguishing.
