Front crossmember replacement. Anyone done this?

Im checking to see if anyone has removed the front crossmember and can offer some insight.

First, some history. I have a '97 base 'Lude we picked up in '07. well, long story short, the carfax we had (prior to purchase) missed some information and a few months later, carfax updated their info on my car (after purchase) showing that there was an accident sometime between '04 and '05. Well, It has had a issue with tracking straight. It had a crappy lowering job.. Some schmoe installed lowering springs on the stock struts. Anyways, i just ordered used struts and springs from ebay and replaced.

After this, the camber was still pretty negative on the driver side front and rear.
I took it to my bro in law and he performed an alignment on it and said that the left (driver) side was apparently damaged. He could not zero out the alignment on that side.. He suggested that I get a replacement crossmember for toe and adjustable ball joints to correct camber for that side.

This was among a ton of other sh** that was jacked up with this car in the first place. (yeah, its a automatic too, which bit the dust)

Fast forward to today.. I have fixed tons of stuff and spent thousands on correcting the car and the only thing left for me to do is the adj. ball joints and cross member.

I have had a replacement crossmember sitting in my garage for about a year. I crawled under the car and checked it out and it appears that there is an engine mount attached. Will I need a cherry picker to support the engine while I swap the crossmembers?

Anyone have any time saving suggestions for me?

Thanks in advance.

james

just support the weight of the engine w/ a floor jack, thats all you need.

I would think just put a piece of wood in between the jack and the engine to help support it without damaging it. Good luck
