Re: 97 prelude what do you think

I think it is a fair asking price. But do like I did with my '93 Si....
I wanted no less than $5000 (with h22 swap) so I put $6500 on
it and took any thing over my minimum asking price.

I ended up getting $6000 and it was a busted POS about 3 weeks
later. Just my two cents worth. Good luck !!!

Re: 97 prelude what do you think

not worth the money..any car no matter what you put into it unless its close to all stock is not worth the money. if the car has over 100,000 miles on it and the guy wants more than $5500 definitely not worth it..go by book value. i wouldnt pay more than maybe 2500 and even 3000 is pushin it

Re: 97 prelude what do you think

Get a hold him. Test drive it and kick the tires. Start at $2500. If he says no immediately, then tell him $3k. Then go up $100 as he drops down a few hundred. Make him think your interested and stand at a certain price. If he really wants to sell it, he will budge.
Take it to a mechanic and get a compression test done on it. See if he is willing to help pay for half, if not all on the test.

Compression test is a key for burning oil ;)

Oooops my bad. I thought you were selling a 97.
If thats the case, go over them and Ghetto-Negociate
with him...Tell him you are on food stamps and live in low
income housing. He might be willing to come down then.

Probably not, but I would offer him less. And keep in mind,
if you have cash in hand...He will get a ready to sell hard on
knowing you have the cash handy.

Yea looks clean. For such high mileage the price is a bit high. But I think its definitely worth looking into. Good luck man!

Re: 97 prelude what do you think

I honestly wouldnt go for it man. Unless they got all service records and it runs really good. I just think they're asking a lil much for one with mileage that high. If u do go for it, I'd definitely try 2 negotiate with the price. It looks really good but I wouldnt pay more than 3,800

Re: 97 prelude what do you think

Car looks nice but there's one thing that's bugging me. Why would this guy put a full lip kit, aluminum trim, and the white gauge bezzels on for it just to be a "drive to school car" for his wife or a carpool car?
I just get this feeling that it's some younger guy who's beat the **** out of, and he's trying to cover it up by saying it's his wifes.

Re: 97 prelude what do you think

make sure you look at the gaps between the hood, doors, trunk, see if they are even it can tell you if it was ever hit, check the underside for excessive rust.

It seems a bit high, but if you think you can trust the guy, has all/most of records for it, and a clean history all that can be worth an extra g.

I got mine 2 weeks ago, a 2000 with 130k, the inside was immaculate, engine was in good shape, it needed the tb job done though(in process), the body and paint had some dings and scuffs, paid 4300 for it
