H23A VTEC.. redline question

ok so i've been reading about the H23A Vtec, and basically from what i've its nothing more then a h23a block that has a h22a head on it. from the factory of course. and i asume it has the same valve train as a h22a then(someone correct me if i'm wrong)
so my question is if its the same head as the h22a, why the different redline?
is it just because of the longer stroke? 90mm(H22) vs 95mm(H23)

In short, yes. The higher the rpm the higher the load on your rotating mass, ie crank, rods, et al.

Re: H23A VTEC.. redline question

, but its not due to different like valve springs or anything?
basically i guess more of what i meant was, would it be safe to raise the redline up to say 8200? (h23a vtec stock redline is 7200)

Re: H23A VTEC.. redline question

If you upgrade the valvetrain and conrods (lighter+stronger) then it could handle more rpm's. How much I don't know, suppose it depends somewhat on the components. Check out what people with stroked H22's are getting.

ya i'm thinking i'm gonna have the bottom end balanced, and leave it at that. cuz i'm not going for a big build on this one. just bolt on's and maybe a stage 1 cam. cuz this is my DD, with some track time on the weekends.
