tuning questions for the SH's

ok... ive done a good bit of reading and its kinda confusing to me....

i kinda get all the obd2-obd1 conversions. but they say you will lose atts if you have it.... but now what about a piggy back? like a AEM fic?

really i just want some one to clarify on what would be the easiest way to tune my sh and with out losing my atts...

Re: tuning questions for the SH's

welll you shouldnt lose atts if u stick with obd2..it really depends on wat u wanna do to the car..if ur lookin to boost your better off going supercharger IMO for an SH..and if u wanna make more than 250hp you will lose atts so you can only go for so much power if u wannt keep atts..atts stops workin and becomes nonfunctional after 250 cuz the unit itself can only handle soo much power..ive seen a jackson supercharged SH in person with bolt ons and functional atts..wen it comes down to it, its all aout how deep ur pockets are

sorry ant but that is misinformation...

the atts unit has no clue how much HP the car has. it is not that the unit stops working. it is recommended that you disconnect or even better remove the unit and swap in a diff tranny. such as my fav: the euro r tranny.
the atts unit will not function correctly with a ton of power. the suggestion is that if you plan on going 250hp or more you should remove the unit. it will not function properly and more than likely be damaged and possibly cause additional damage.

so protect your 250hp investment and remove the ATTS unit!

Re: tuning questions for the SH's

As I understand it, if there is too much torque then it will shut itself off. If you are any where near that limit, then it should be disconnected/removed.

Wonder if you could swap the clutches out and get the gears treated so the thing could handle more power?

Re: tuning questions for the SH's

honestly if you really have nothing done... just do a vafc2 its good for a gain of 20 or more horse w/ bolt ons. atts is garbage....but if you keep it do mild bolt ons... clutch, plate, and flywheel are a good start but do a six puck sprung w/ a heavier plate...don't wuss out and do a street disc.

Re: tuning questions for the SH's

well im going to be running I/H maybe a custom Exhaust, 7.5lb flywheel and a decent clutch.... dont know bout the six pack.... might be a little high for my budget... but will see... the piggyback thing or like bustr said a vafc2. wont be to long after i get everything back together...

but now for the vafc2 is there any tuning involved? or is it automatic?

Re: tuning questions for the SH's

Needs to be tuned and to get the most out of it, by someone who knows what they are doing. VAFC2 is a piggy back, just not as advanced as the eManage Ultimate and FI/C. With a VAFC2 you can basically only tune open loop.

The Ultimate is probably the way to go. Heard (from Boomslang) that the FI/C had some issues on our cars (and other Hondas from the same period), although that was a while ago. Ultimate you are looking at what, $500-600 for the unit and another $200 for a PnP harness. Not exactly cheap.

Re: tuning questions for the SH's

best thing you can do is remove atts swap in the old base tranny and thats it.

you'll feel faster since your shedding off what like 40 pounds of weight or some **** like that

is he talking bout the vafc2? does it need tuning? i know the fic needs tuning because it comes with a base map. but i haven't read that much on vafc....
