Puffing Black

Hey guys/gals.... cars running pretty rich but only when I step on it. Im pretty confident its valves or valve seal. Anyone gone into replacing the valves or having them machined? If so prices would be cool so I have an idea. Thanks!

Re: Puffing Black

go talk to a local machine shop who do it regularly. can't be terribly expensive if you just want a basic rebuild. but i'd build it w/ aftermarket stuff if you got the money, just sayin :

do you have access to do a leakdown test just to confirm your suspicions?

Re: Puffing Black

Our dealership uses a place called Cylinder Head Service - it is one guy that does all his own work and everything and he is awesome at it. To give you an idea:
I was going to do a 5 angle valve job, hot tank clean, replace all valves and valve stems and basically just do an overhaul of the head because I have leaky intake valves - the price on that would be $700
To replace the vales and stems and hot tank plus check for leaks and do an overall check up it would be right around $300, not including the parts needed

Hope this helps
