Anyone see that 99 Lude on Ebay Brand new? lol 25500 asking

So i was bored surfin ebay and some of you might have already seen this. Somehow honda didnt know they had a 99 SH in stock in one of their huge lots and it sat for 10 years, well this ebay honda bought it at a recent auction and they are trying to sell it asking 25,500! I was like wow so high. It might be old news, just thought it was interesting. So maybe some of you want to throw down some money on a new lude! haha Too bad it wasnt an all new redesigned Lude for '10! Now that id hop on!

Re: Anyone see that 99 Lude on Ebay Brand new? lol 25500 asking

Have they given it a full service, replaced the timing belt, auto tensioner, etc.? Because even if it only has 902M on the clock there is still a decent chances that all of that is worn and it wouldn't be cheap to replace. Tyres would need replacing to if there are original.

Can always shave some money off a 2nd hand car if its nearing a major service.

Re: Anyone see that 99 Lude on Ebay Brand new? lol 25500 asking

Thanks for posting the link, i just got home from work and was going to post it. I dont think that it will need any belts or anything. Either way, prob worth a good 20k but no more than that. It would be more of a collectors car to me if I had money to throw at the wind. Other than that, I cant see myself spending that much on a 10 year old car. But it was nice to see a new pretty lude on the showroom floor again after all these years! Honda would be smart to bring a prelude back!

ya really. change the fluids and a new battery, check the tires for dryrot and you're good to go. I wouldn't pay 25,5 for it. Maybe 18 or 19

Recommendation for timing belts in the US I think is 100,000 miles or 7 years. Just saying I wouldn't risk it. Everything might be brand new, but the fact is it has been sitting there for 10 years and rubber has a way of degrading.

Had to change my timing belt, etc. even though it wasn't half way in terms of mileage, purely because of age. Belts were worn and the tensioner was starting to leak.

Yep, better safe than sorry.
If I had the cash I'd jump on it. Would be awesome to have.

look at the pic of the peddles, they look a lil worn to me. maybe its just the angle but that is the first thing i look at when someone says they have a low mileage car.

In that condition it still only books for $10,655.

I'd give that for it.

Re: Anyone see that 99 Lude on Ebay Brand new? lol 25500 asking

ya im agreeing with fryamb on this one. I noticed the pedals as well and thought the same thing. But you do have to realize, alot of people could have been in and out of that car moving it 20 feet at a time. Doing that, it would take alot of getting in and out to get to 902kms. But the car does look mint and that would be pretty sweet to own it. I would probably be too tempted to put after market parts on that car and that would ruin the value of that rare find lol

CTO-99 Prelude SH 902 actual miles no reg owner!

I was browsing ebay and came across this posting for a 99 prelude SH with 902 Actual miles. It has never been owned and it checks out with autocheck.
you got to check this out, price is steep(brand new)/no warranty, but worth it if someone wants a low mileage example. If I had the money I would buy it and put it in a garage under a cover!

Re: CTO-99 Prelude SH 902 actual miles no reg owner!

For something that's only travelled 902 miles the floor mats look rather second hand.

But to be honest I'd rather have one that's had regular use, not just low milage. If it's been used regularly at least we know that none of the rubber seals or hoses have dried out or hardened. I imagine this thing has sat in a warehouse somewhere for 10 years, which is hardly the best environment.

Well..since I have no plans this weekend, and that dealership is only like an hour and a half away, I think Im going to ride up and take a look at it, I have no plans to buy it, but at least I could check it out and see if the sales manager is trying to cover something up.

Re: Anyone see that 99 Lude on Ebay Brand new? lol 25500 asking

Ya they are never gonna get 25k for that, I think it's hilarious they think someone might pay that. Cars that sit for a long time typically are not a good investment. Even if all the fluids, gasoline, etc were changed I would still be apprehensive to even drop 10-15k on it.

My 2nd car was a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquee and it sat for a year before it was given to me by my fiance's grand parents. All the tires/belts/hoses/fluids got replaced and 1 week later the auto-tranny still died. Can't complain because it was free, but still beware of sitting vehicles.

A little too clean imho. That thing had to have a cover over it or in a sealed storage container. No way it sat in a dusty warehouse for 10 years and not needed extensive cleaning to look like that. I have a 93 Bonneville with 80k miles sitting under my carport. Interior was spotless when i parked it a year ago. Only opened the doors twice. Now you look inside the dash and consoles are almost as dusty as the outside. Lord knows how the dust got in there. 1st time to sell the battery to my uncle. Second to get the bow saw out of the trunk to cut down some bushes. paid $200 for the car 2 years ago. Its my back up for when my prelude is broken. Haven't needed it since i bought my prelude its only been down 3 days max and the 3 days i was working on it so no need to leave the house except for parts. :D

Re: CTO-99 Prelude SH 902 actual miles no reg owner!

Just asked them about the never been titled warranty, and about the KBB value regarding their asking price and here is their reply:

Dear ------,

I thought that this would be the case also, but they are saying that since it is a 1999 it wont have the factory warranty. Everyone is talking about this 11k that kbb says. Listen, I dont care what any book says about this car. This will be a car that will require cash to buy it, and we are not in any hurry to get rid of it. It is beautiful and will probably be a collector car someday. I seriously doubt that the person who buys this will drive it. The lowest they will take on this Prelude is 23k. Thanks
