Got a Small Oil Leak. I Think?

Alright im getting these little quarter size droplets of oil on my garage floor so I checked the oil and sure enough it was about a half quart to low. (changed oil about 2300 miles ago) So I topped it off and jacked up the car to see if I noticed anything. It seemed like near the oil filter there was this rubber thing you could push in and it seemed to have the most oil on it. But the oil pan and basically the entire bottom of the tranny was a little wet and i noticed that the oil droplets were dropping off from the left side of the tranny directly under the distributor. So my question is do you guys think that this is just a oil filter problem? because ive had all the seals replaced and it dosent seem to be coming from near the timing cover.

note:its just one droplet basically everytime i park, so i dont think its too bad of a leak (5th Gen)

Thanks

Re: Got a Small Oil Leak. I Think?

lil more specific of this "rubber thing"?? does it have a wire coming out of it?

but you also say under the dizzy, which is very far away. the dizzy o-ring is a very common source of a leak. your best/easiest bet is clean alllll of the oil off (under dizzy, oil pan, tranny, oil filter, everything) go for a short lil drive than see where its coming from.

don't forget about gravity.

Re: Got a Small Oil Leak. I Think?

Do what twokex said but if that doesn't help I have a potential theory that I'm going to throw out there: VTEC is eating your oil, there is no oil leak but there is a small transmission leak. Just a wild guess...

Re: Got a Small Oil Leak. I Think?

Looking at preludeonline.com(preludezone is still my home) ive narrowed it down to an oil cooler seal, maybe the distributor seal, or maybe the vtec solenoid gasket. Opinions?

check your distributor dude look under the cap itself to see if its leaking onto the block..i know mine is and i have to change the distributor or the o-ring inside the distributor but its gotten bad enough where u get those quarter droplets on the floor..i doubt its the vtec solenoid..and be sure to check your one cam seal on the left side of the valve cover if ur standing in front of the car

Re: Got a Small Oil Leak. I Think?

okay ... first thing is first. check your pcv valve... the funny little 90 degree plastic thingy on the very top of your valve cover. shake it... if it does not make a rattle noise... that means its clogs... which will cause oil to seep out of most of your seals in the motor. the pcv valve is a crankcase vent.... your motor while its running creates crankcase pressure... which pushs oil out of seals. second... i would do what the others have said... change the O ring on the distributor... they are known for leaking. orbslude has a good point about the cam seal... third... change the cam seal... it is a little complicated but... 90% of the time its where the leak starts. there are tons of right ups and i am too lazy to tell you right now. fourth... yes the oil cooler O ring SUCKS. they always split.... you are going to have to get that O ring from honda. you will need either a 24 mm or a 30mm deep socket. hope this clears something up.

Re: Got a Small Oil Leak. I Think?

Thanks alot dude. I also noticed a larger hose below the distributor that looks like it may have a crack in it and there is some oil around it but it may just be from the dizzy o ring
