Icon9 Prelude SS engine whine noise

My lude has a whine noise in the left side of the engine. When i put on D4 and let it roll (without accelerate) the noise comes in "low". When the lude is on 1st and 2nd gear the noise getting louder (especially when it's near to move the next gear) then the whine is disappearing at the 3rd gear. Moreover, i have seen a lot Honda accord 91-00 has the same whine noise in 1st and 2nd gear. So, what is that noise? and where it comes from? Help plz.
Here is link the noise

p/s: if the noise is relate to the SS...

Re: Prelude SS engine whine noise

put the car up on jacks and accelerate it could be the wheel bearings. Not the trans itself. then again why are you shifting different gears in a automatic? those gears are designed for climbing that is it.

Re: Prelude SS engine whine noise

I think ive heard my accord make that noise before but not sure what it is. All of the automatic trannys by honda suck and fall apart, but I dont really think thats's a sign...Check out the Prelude Auto Tranny FAQ.

Why shift gears in the automatic lude.....well that is the whole point of the "Sport Shift" to shift manual.

Thx guys. I did not use the SS mode after read the Failure Guide( only use 3 times, since i bought the car in May) The shift part that I mentioned is when it shifted itself into 1st,2nd and 3rd in D4 mode, and i did not shift into D3, D2 or D1. Sorry for the misunderstand.
I spoke to my mechanic once, and he said it might be the f*** trans. Btw the car is at 82,000 and no sign of failure yet (it might be rebuild one but there is no record on the carfax)
