I bought a Lude, and I love it! PICS!!

So I know at least half of you guys aren't going to be happy with me, but I bought the green 99 lude I posted about a few weeks ago. To be honest, I just couldn't pass up the deal. But this was after I went and talked with the seller straight up. We went over pretty much every inch of the car and he seemed pretty honest about it all. I told him the only way I was going to buy it is if I could do a compression test and have my mechanic look at it. So I did the compression test and got 210 across all four cylinders. This made me happy. Then I took it to a friend with a reputable shop that took a look over everything and he said it looked great. CV axles were new, seals were replaced and it wasn't leaking a drop of oil just like the seller said. This made me even more happy. I took the car back to the seller where he said his offer of 4800 still stands. (down from an original 5699!) I accepted and he even threw in some Eibach lowering springs! Needless to say...a good day!

To address the issues it had in my other post:
It is definitely an H22A.
The knock that was there the other day vanished. Maybe I was just imagining it last time? Who knows.
He is running regular gas in it which I hated, but I will promptly be running this tank out and filling her up with some of the good stuff!

So I just wanted to say thanks to all of those that helped out when I needed questions answered! I appreciate it!

EDIT:
I put premium in it today and it runs awesome. It's days of Regular are over!

Pictures!

Yes, regular as in flipping 87 octane. Texas premium gas is only 91 octane :( at least where I live.

And yea I think that is whats going on as well.

BABIES? My Lude is a grown woman and as such acts like one.

Glad to hear the guy was straight up about it.

Yeah, presuming it has no issues and really is as solid as it seems, then you definitely won't regret buying a Prelude! Congratulations!

I'm assuming not very long as he has only put a few thousand miles on the new engine if even that much. So probably 2000 miles of the engines 48,000 miles. I'll be putting in a tank of premium when this one is gone which should be soon!

unknownPrelude - Regular here is 87, Mid-Grade is 89, and Premium is either 91 or 93 but I see 91 way more than I see 93.

Thanks for all the congrats. I couldn't get pictures today but they will come soon. I've been on the DIY forum all day. This thing is going to take over my life!

no true stock civics with vtec dont need premium, it based on compression not vtec that requires premium gas other wise i could put 87 in my h23 non vtec motor!

I go by manufacturers recommendations and in every Owners Manual ive seen in the past 4 years of working in shops its said use 91 octane or higher in Vtec motors. I am not arguing the fact that it is based on compression you are correct there but Manufacturers say go imo.

I remember at one point my husband was telling me "Why do you put such expensive gas in your Prelude, regular won't do anything bad to it" and I said back to him, "The car is rated for 91 octane by Honda, if I wanted a cheap-o gas car I wouldn't have bought a Prelude... over my dead body will this car get lower than 91"

Glad it's running great for you now :)
