Re: catalytic converter!

To my knowledge, cats are pretty universal as long as you do all custom exhaust piping coming out of it. If not, it probably won't line up with the collector and normal piping.

Re: catalytic converter!

obviously its gonna need to be welded on.
but it also depends on what size piping you currently have on it. i'm pretty sure stock exhaust is 2", and most aftermarket exhausts are 2.33", so unless you have a custom 2.5" system on it currently, its not gonna fit, or take some modding.

Re: catalytic converter!

Nope... just one cat. That's a pretty easy thing to check though.

You will probably throw a CEL. When I installed my Random Technology high flow cat on my lude it threw one, and I'm OBDII also.

Re: catalytic converter!

I honestly don't think the cat has anything at all to do with running rich. I could be wrong though. You need to figure out what color smoke you have. You might have a bigger problem on your hands than you think.

Well if the cat has gone bad then the secondary o2 sensor would tell the ecu that its not receiving enough exhaust fumes, thus the ecu would tell the engine to run richer( I believe thats how it works but I'm not 100% positive on that...)

Good call man, I didn't think of that.

Replace the cat, see what happens.

Excellent

Magnaflow sells a highflow cat that does not have a bung in the cat itself for the O2 sensor. I recommend when you go to the exhaust shop that they weld a triangle flange to your new cat so that it bolts up to the header. Then right after the cat have them weld a bung for your o2 sensor.

Re: catalytic converter!

just replacing cat might not change it. you will need to check your o2 sensors. both the one in downpipe and cat. i currently am dealing with the one in the downpipe.

The secondary O2 is only to tell if the cat is there and functional. The secondary O2 will not make your car run rich only through a P0420 CEL.
