SH engine on a base

Im looking to buy a new engine for my car. I found an engine on ebay that is a type S. Correct me if Im wrong but type S is the same a SH right? anyways I was wondering if that type of engine will fit on my 99 Base? what are the Pros and Cons if I put that kind of engine on my car?

Re: SH engine on a base

the type s engine is not the same as the sh. the type s had higher comp, some porting from honda and some other stuff i cant remember right now . the $4000+ your gonna spend on the swap you can spend the money on the h you got now.

Re: SH engine on a base

A motor on a type SH is the same motor that is on a base (H22a,H22a4). the only difference is some fittings along with the ATTS unit, it is pointless to swap an SH motor into ur car cuz its the same motor on the base if ur looking for a new motor, go with a type S motor unless u just wanna get a new JDM H22 or just go to a junkyard and get another USDM H22

sorry buddy ...but your wrong. yea you have the different fittings for atts but oil filter placement, oil pressure sensor, half shaft bolt holes, 5more hp?? etc are different. yea its stamped h22a4 but it will not bolt up to a base tranny w/ out mods to the halfshaft mounting. your a base...then go w/ a jdm h22 and lsd tranny you will spend usually less then the type s motor. besides...if you really want it to have the horse of a type s... do the pistons, cams, and upgrade you intake manifold. you ll prolly spend less that way.
