Can I fit 225 tires on stock rims with my car being an inch lower from stock?

Want to keep the stock rims but get some wider tires. hoping for 225's. Will I have trouble with rubbing being that my car is lowered on neuspeed springs? Also how wide are the stock wheel's 16in? Thanks guys

Re: Can I fit 225 tires on stock rims with my car being an inch lower from stock?

I knew a guy who had 225s on his 01 SH, no rubbing, lightly droped ( don't remember how much)

imo 225 are too much, personaly I would go for 215 Azenis, but if you still wanna go for 225 I think it would fit

on my accord I have 17 inches 215s, 1 1/2 inch lowered, no prob, could go for much more, but preludes are different

Sh wheels are wider than stock wheels, I dont think the 225 is going to fit.

Nah they are both 16x6.5...

I do think 225 is a bit wide though... 215 should be fine though.

225's will fit, but it's obviously not preferred.

Why run 215 when 225 will fit. Stock wheels I believe are 6.5" wide. I would do 225 50 or 225 45 with just an a 1" drop you will be just fine.

225/45 would have a much better looking profile... 225/50s would look pretty big especially with a drop

225/? you need to be more specific and you are on 17" wheels that 2nd numer for the tire profile is pretty impotant.

I believe with just a one inch drop that the 225/50 would probably look better then a 225/45 but to be safe I would probably run a 225/45

if you run a 225/45 you will have a kind of limited tire option with most being in a higher price range but I would get Bfgoodrich G-force KDW's if I went with that size but if you go 225/50 I would go with their G-force sports.

Good point. 45% aspect ratio tires do tend to be a bit pricier.

I only said that I thought they would look better because 225/50s would look pretty big on a 16 inch wheel as opposed to the 205/50s, and on a 17 inch wheel 225/50s would look really big and wouldn't surprise me if they rubbed with a decent sized drop.

i really don't think that 5mm difference is going to make much of a difference when it comes to apperence on a 16" wheel.

It's not a 5mm difference though... the aspect ratio isn't measured in mm...
The difference between a 205/45 and a 205/50 is over 20mm on the same 16 inch wheel...

A 225/50 is 20mm (over 3/4 of an inch) larger in diameter than a 205/50 on the same 16 inch wheel...

A 225/45 is actually almost the same exact diameter as a 205/50 (a 225/45 is actually only 2.5mm smaller in diameter than a 205/50 on the same wheel).

Re: Can I fit 225 tires on stock rims with my car being an inch lower from stock?

Hehe no worries man... it happens.

Hey OP, here is a nice easy chart for you to compare a few different sizes to stock!

Overall diameter chart for different size tires/rims:

16 inch rim:

205/55/16 - 24.9 inches
205/50/16 - 24.1 inches (STOCK TIRE AND WHEEL)
205/45/16 - 23.3 inches
205/40/16 - 22.5 inches

215/55/16 - 25.3 inches
215/50/16 - 24.5 inches
215/45/16 - 23.6 inches
215/40/16 - 22.8 inches

225/55/16 - 25.7 inches
225/50/16 - 24.9 inches
225/45/16 - 24.0 inches (That is why I picked this size... closest to stock = least chance of rub)
225/40/16 - 23.1 inches

17 inch rim

205/55/17 - 25.9 inches
205/50/17 - 25.1 inches
205/45/17 - 24.3 inches
205/40/17 - 23.5 inches

215/55/17 - 26.3 inches
215/50/17 - 25.5 inches
215/45/17 - 24.6 inches
215/40/17 - 23.8 inches

225/55/17 - 26.7 inches
225/50/17 - 25.9 inches
225/45/17 - 25.0 inches
225/40/17 - 24.1 inches (perfect match for stock size, except on a 17 inch wheel)

18 inch rim

205/55/18 - 26.9 inches
205/50/18 - 26.1 inches
205/45/18 - 25.3 inches
205/40/18 - 24.5 inches (This is pretty much as close as you're gonna get on an 18 inch rim without getting SUPER low profile tires).

215/55/18 - 27.3 inches
215/50/18 - 26.5 inches
215/45/18 - 25.6 inches
215/40/18 - 24.8 inches

225/55/18 - 27.7 inches
225/50/18 - 26.9 inches
225/45/18 - 26.0 inches
225/40/18 - 25.1 inches
