MIL Code 90 EVAP system

I'm just looking to see if anyone has ever had a real problem with this that wasn't associated with not clicking the gas cap on enough...

All the info I see about the code 90s seems to point to someone not clicking the gas cap enough... Should I just reset my ecu and see if it comes back, or should I be worried about other possible causes...

I live in Jersey so most of the time an attendant is pumping my gas unless I'm at work (in PA). I always make sure to click it like 5 or 6 times when I do it myself, and I try to make it a point to listen to make sure the attendants click it at least 3 times too... I haven't noticed any one of them not clicking it enough, so I'm nervous it could be a different cause.

My car also smells like it is running rich now after the CEL came on (is this a fail-safe?) and I have had persistent problems with hesitation/bogging in the 3k RPM range, but that problem has been ongoing since well before the CEL came on... I actually think that is EGR related and I'm just trying to find the time to clean my valve and ports... I'll probably do it this weekend.

Could these be related? Any help/info would be appreciated.

Re: MIL Code 90 EVAP system

Thanks nick, that is what I'm gonna try.

Hey, do you still have that EGR valve, btw? PM me with some details...

The welding helmet went on ebay btw... I actually got a LOT more for it than I thought I would have... like almost to the point where I feel bad for the guy who bought it lol... he could have got a brand new one for only a LITTLE bit more.... oh well, should have done his research.

PS hell yeah that pumping your own gas sh*t is for the birds =P.

Re: MIL Code 90 EVAP system

Any luck man?

I think I might still have an EGR if you need it.

Businesses are too cheap to have a gas attendant here anymore. They also insist that you prepay. Pisses me off when I want to fill up and don't know how much it's going to cost. Sometimes you get a really smart one and if you offer to give them your license so if you do drive off without paying, they know everything about you, and they still don't want to do it.

Thanks man. I'm gonna clean my EGR valve and ports this weekend I think, and I'll let you know if I need it or not when I see how good/or bad mine looks.
