Re: 14 second 1/4 mile

when i put it in d4 the gears automatically switch around 6.8 rpm as compared when i put it in the tiptronic i change the gear at an easy 8k and my motor has been fine. but the best time i ever done was 15.5 and really want to break the 14 sec barrier. i got and intake, headers, and exhaust but wat other mods can i stick on to get there without turbo? wil cam gears and camshafts do the trick?

Re: 14 second 1/4 mile

Swap to a manual tranny you'll see a gain there.

Get your **** tuned.
with just the i/h/e if you get it tuned you'll shave a tad bit more time right there. Wheight reductions (thats free) will shave time.
A High flow cat or no cat for drag purposes only will shave time as well.
Lighter rims, other than stripping your car and making it uncomfortable for daily driving you could replace the OEM parts with lighter weight parts (carbon fiber for example)
You've got the basic mods done, everything else gets expensive from there. If you have about 1k to spend you could put in a 50 shot of nitrous, but I DO NOT recommend that for you as you sound new to cars. Nitrous can easily cut down on some time, but it is not for beginners.

If you plan on having a drag car or a car thats faster than what you have now, your first step is going to be swapping out that tranny for a standard one.

Maybe someone can chime in here and give me the correct answer but isnt it for -100 pounds you get 1hp or is it like .1hp?

Re: 14 second 1/4 mile

auto to manual swap, then throw on some stage 1 cams, and a good tune, some weight reduction plus a good driver would get you around there

Re: 14 second 1/4 mile

I ran 15.1 with a full weight 5th gen, exedy oe clutch, fidanza flywheel, h22a, AEM CAI, 17"wheels with summer tires, koni/GC ....everything else STOCK, including exhaust.

Im sure If I went back I can break 14s, It was my first time ever running at the track and I only got 3 runs in that day, first was like 16.xx then 15.4 then 15.1

No, you don't.

Fuel cuts off at 7700 RPM.

Your tach might read 8k, but they are not entirely accurate and a field tach is always more accurate.

Re: 14 second 1/4 mile

Another cheap mod to get would be some stock diameter pulleys. You could get under drive, which will net you more power but I think it makes daily driving more of a chore. You could also get a Mezier electric water pump, they go for around $400-$500 and are supposed to give 10whp on the top end, or so their website says.

ya, every 100lbs you take off is another tenth of a second off your time. like everyone said though, a manual swap will definately do a lot. plus you wont have to worry about the tranny exploding at some unknown time haha

and ya badmofo is right. the rev limiter cuts in before 8k anyways

edit: wasn't this a thread like a month or so ago?

have fun watching your tranny very promptly deteriorate the more you beat/abuse it!

when dealing with the internals of the motor is when you start seeing bigget horse torque gains. yet it will cost a lot more to get that stuff installed unless do it yourself

14.5 should be attainable for a 5th gen with a h22 swap, if i can do that with my 4th gen with full leather interior i'm sure a 5th gen can do it too

Re: 14 second 1/4 mile

a CAI?????? is that what your talking about..isnt that the MOSTTTT tuned like 3-5hp?????

regardless..its an intake, dont rely on that for power.

got bull**** money to spend but dont want to go crazy on your car..i/h/e is just for you, lightweight rims (ONLY FOR TRACK!!!!) i heed that warning since if you daily your car with them expect a bent rim soon.

hytech replica header, people say thats the best for our car, and remember get tuned with the i/h/e.

and get rid of auto if you can, you'll feel a huge gain from that.

hope everyone has helped you...but i think all our posts are the same and get rid of the auto!!!! lol

Re: 14 second 1/4 mile

i never once said my intake boast my car 15-20 hp. i just know my buddy gain 5 horsepower on his vr6 from switching from his short ram(which gained him 3), in totaled he got 8 horsepower from his full intake then i said fuel rail and intake manifold. I would imagine 15 horsepower is a reachable goal.

DAMNN Didnt know the prelude guys were such dicks.
