Catalytic Converter

Alright so I have a 5th gen type sh.

Meaning the catalytic converter is shorter than the base model, due to the longer downpipe on the SH to accommodate ATTS, correct?

I have a base model header and down pipe, then a short little extension pipe to fill the gap between DP and CC.

If I buy a base model cat will it fit properly and all that jive?

My cat is a POS with 190k miles.

But I do not want a test pipe because I plan to move to texas and they have emissions laws.

Re: Catalytic Converter

High flows are pretty pointless. I had a Random Technology one and it ended up giving me less gains than stock...I have 2.5" piping n **** too. Plus you won't pass emissions.

Just look for another stock one, or run a straight pipe with a resonator or two.

Re: Catalytic Converter

To the best of my knowledge, the cat is the same size on both the base and the SH. The only difference is that one sits farther back than the other (due to the longer B pipe off the header)... that's why all the cat backs you buy are normally either Base or SH specific, because depending on how far back the cat is, the exhaust from the cat back is going to be longer or shorter accordingly.

Re: Catalytic Converter

Just checked www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and confirmed that the catalytic converter is the same for both the base and the SH.

Base:
32194 CONVERTER (GHE975)

SH:
32194 CONVERTER (GHE975)

Only the B pipe and the exhaust (from cat back) are different.
