individual throttle bodies

alright so im thinking of putting individual throttle bodies on my 97 prelude but has anyone else seen this done to a prelude before and would it be even worth doing it or not really?

Re: individual throttle bodies

If you're planning on an all out absolutely killer N/A build for a race car, then yes it's worth it and it can be done. If you're not planning on building a huge HP N/A engine for the track then no it's not worth it - you'll get better gains from a EuroR or S2 or similar intake manifold.

If it's for any kind of street car then forget about it; it's way too much effort.

Re: individual throttle bodies

brash is 100% right. you really cant drive around daily w/ itbs. if this car was strictly for racing then i would say HELL YEA..... but it is also alot more then just slapping the individuals... you will need fuel upgrades and engine management (hondata). which the three of those thing will run you into aprox 4gs. so is it worth it???

why not? Getting ITB's to drive daily is all about proper setup and tuning.

Re: individual throttle bodies

okay... but you are a tuner and someone that could fix any issues that you would come across. when you alter anything from being stock most of the time there are issues sometimes big... sometimes small. some people just think that they can slap on any power adders without issues without doing homework.... if nightwing really want ITBS.... he wont ask people their opinions... he would most likely do his homework and do what he wants.

as far as driving daily... you are right... it is ALL ABOUT PROPER TUNING. with proper tuning you can pretty much do whatever you want to any car.... but i think in this case our friend may not be ready for or truly understand ITBS and what is required to make them work.

Re: individual throttle bodies

he doesnt have to know anything about making them work if he simply takes his car to a shop who has a competent tuner or someone who knows how to set it up and also has an engine management that will support them.

just because he may not be able to set them up does not make him incapable of finding someone who can. Afterall, that is the purpose of people having shops.

I'm just simply making it clearer to people that they can drive just fine if setup correctly. You said they cannot be DD'd and that is not technically correct.

Re: individual throttle bodies

is it possible? yes

would it be logical? probably not

you have to understand how each piece performs and how it operates before you can start asking off the wall questions like that.
