Car is just dying!

This all seems to be happening after a lead and plug change, but I think that may be coincedince. Recently my car would just die. Like, I'm driving along and it'll stop. I'll pull over (cause for some reason i can't just put it into 2nd gear and bump it) and it'll start straight away with no problems.

This was unteill last thursday when it wasn't starting at all. Diagnostic = new coil needed.

Done! I was drining yesterday and to my surprise it died again. I tried to bump it (2nd gear) and nothing so I had to pull over and it started again with no problems.

Strange, i'm all outta idea's so I'd really appreciate some help

Thanks

Re: Car is just dying!

What's the idle looking like?

Have you checked the fuel filter/fuel pump? Distributor cap/rotor? Are all the wires snuggly secured to plugs and distributor?

The idle is generally good but sometimes it'll go as low as 200rpm. I haven't checked those not sure what i'm looking for...

And all the wires are snugly fitted in.

Re: Car is just dying!

With an idle that low, you should check your IACV. Your engine is JDM, correct? So you don't have an EGR valve or EGR ports, right?

I would check the IACV. Also make sure that there is no air in your coolant system.

Check this thread too:

Yeah it is JDM, well done. And i'm not gonna lie. I dont have a clue what EGR, EGR valve ports or IACV are.

Lol. So do you think it could be something connected to the low idle that's making it die?

Re: Car is just dying!

Yeah you're right they're not related. On the ignition you have off, I then II right?

I found out that the ignition was slipping into I that's why it'd die and I couldn't bump it. It also explains why it'll start straight away when I trystart it.

Is there anyway to sort this out without replacing the ignition barrel?

I hope so! lol
