Re: help wid gauges

It's mechanical vs electric
and full sweep vs half sweep

I have a mechanical Autometer oil pres guage and sometimes it acts up, but it was a good price lol

Can i ask why u wanna do tranny temp? A more practical gauge would be EGT's and oil temp. Just my input, wanna save u from ricer status. The way i see it, if im gonna spend money, im gonna spend it on something useful in keeping my car safe, not useless.

And if u like the way DEFI is but dont want the price, go with STRI, they're beautiful

Re: help wid gauges

go with electrical

reasons:
easy to isntall
more acurate
and more

unless you want hot liquid in your car, you should not get mechanical, those were the things of 80s and below

Re: help wid gauges

mechanical gauges are more accurate, but electrical gauges are easier to install and cleaner in the long run...

for example if you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge in your car and it the line to it breaks then you're going to have oil inside your car, for me that is just a no no...

autometer are great gauges, but there are many brands out there, vdo makes good gauges also...

personally i am using sunpro faze gauges, oil temp, oil pressure, and volts... why? because they work well, they're pretty cheap compared to some brands and sunpro has been making gauges for a looooonngggg time, and they are indeglos so they match my indeglo dash gauges!

Re: help wid gauges

If your gonna get 2 gauges for now go with EGT's and Oil Temp. Go with STRI's. Mechanical isnt really needed in ur application cause i doubt your gonna need them to be on point and exact.

Re: help wid gauges

why would you need to know the exhaust gas temp in a non turbo car?

oil pressure is by far one of the most important gauges you can have in your car, due to the fact that your oil pressure light doesn't come on untill it gets below 10psi i believe and by then its probally too late... knock, knock... whats that? spun bearing...

not really
oil pressure is the first thing you wanna have, specially since vtec has every thing to do with oil pressure.
