need some serious help guys?

Okay so i was going down the highway when my power steering went out. I pulled over near a gas station and their was this weird ticking noise coming from under the hood. Come to find both of my belts had came off. The skinnier one was completely off and the fatter one was on but cut in half. So i got the skinnier one (bought new one) put on but their is this loud ticking noise coming from the timing. So what do u guys think it is and will it be okay to drive home. (10 miles) The fatter one is still cut in half but on.

Re: need some serious help guys?

how is the alt. belt cut in half but still on? is the ticking noise coming from your timing or from the p/s belt? these are two different things. please be more precise in your question.

if you're that scared call triple A.

Re: need some serious help guys?

alright so i figured out that the crank pulley is loose and is flapping back in forth up against the timing cover. thats what the noise is. i tried to get the crank bolt off with a impact and it wouldnt budge. so i am taking it to a shop who is going to get it off for me and put me a new one on. the guy charges like 60 an hour and does really good work. how long do u guys think it would take to put a new one on belt and all. im not tryin to spend alot of money. thanks

no need for two identical threads. i'm closing this one and keeping the other one open since it has a much better/useful thread title.
