Beeping noise when keys left in ignition!

Ok I've had enough of it now! You know what I mean, the beeping noise we get when we leave the keys in the ignition and open the drivers door. I hate it so does anyone know what wire to cut to stop it? Any repercussions?

Thanks

Re: Beeping noise when keys left in ignition!

it's your door sill switch... if you engage it.. ex.. cut/connect the wires.. no more noise

negatives.. nothing bad.. other than user error based.. leaving keys in eg.. ect.

Re: Beeping noise when keys left in ignition!

what you need to do is basically trick the switch to think it's pushed in (doors closed).. I do not know if that is wires connected or not.. you will have to figure that out on your own..

best shot is just unplug the switch (looks like a plunger button in door frame) see if that works.. if it doesn't the wires need to be looped together (connected)

the car will think that door is closed at all times.. pretty easy mod.. not sure why you'd want to do it tho.. but to each his own

Hey man,

My australian '90 2.0si doesn't beep when keys are in the ignition but it does beep if you turn the ignition off and leave the headlights on, the beeper for that is near the inside fuse box. If you take off the panel that runs under the steering column you should find the beeper screwed to the back of it, disconnect the plug and see if that works, if it doesn't you can just plug it back in. Your interior light should still work.

Matt.

Hm, you could just take the key out before you open the door.

Re: Beeping noise when keys left in ignition!

IDK about preludes but in my camaro it was pissing me off so I went into the relay panel and pulled out the actual buzzer thing. It was a box that just plugged into the panel like a relay. If I were you Id open the door and follow the sound to the source and cut it off there. You might not lose your int lights then. Or yea like DJ Prelude said just take your keys out before opening the door lol.

Re: Beeping noise when keys left in ignition!

On my 94 Mazda 323 there was a wire on the ignition you could disconnect to make the beeping stop. found it while thinking about adding a toggle switch ignition. on the mazda there were 4 wires coming out, 1 was to tell the beeping noise maker that the key was in the ignition. sorry thats all the info i can tell you.

Dude I hate to be a dick but are you guys serious? TAKE THE KEY OUT FIRST, then open your door. Pretty simple. No mods needed.

Sometimes I don't wanna take the key out. Liek when I'm working on it and have to turn ignition on then off etc.

I can't think of a time when I would have my door open to work on my car, but if I did have to I would just play some background music if the beeping was buggin me that much.

Re: Beeping noise when keys left in ignition!

since it was brought back alive... How about downloading a manual and removing the buzzer...or cutting a wire to it.

Could also just try to find it while its beeping...

Re: Beeping noise when keys left in ignition!

There is a reason why most people including me dontbother with this forum anymore, its because even though it has its prime members but they are out numbed by the trolls and JAck@$$** on the board. 1 thread wont be relied in weeks, its more like a dead forum for support. And there's actually a lot more BETTER FORUMS OUT THERE...

Re: Beeping noise when keys left in ignition!

I know its an old thread, but you can just pull the rubber piece back on the door switch and unscrew it, and unplug it. It still sits there incase you ever want to plug it back in. Simple.
