Best Clutch to buy?

Hi guys,

I think my clutch is going out. It smells burnt every time I start(moderate start easing clutch while giving gas) from a stop. some times at low rpm's too. also when above 4000 rpm if i let go the gas it feels like it slipped a bit.

anyways what is the best clucth to buy. My car is bone stock and I am looking for longer clutch life and must withstand once in a while hard starts. Are ebay clutches ok.

Thanks in advance

Re: Best Clutch to buy?

Check your fluid level. I had thought mine went out as well but it was a leaky slave cylinder. As for eBay clutch kits, no I would look somewhere else if you want what you call longer clutch life. I bought a Fidanza kevlar 4 puck disc, and a 8 lb Fidanza flywheel yet to be installed. I might have it installed this Christmas break when school lets out. I'm kind of out a money at the moment tuition for three classes at Community College was $1,200 and books are around $400.

Those are legit. I got my Exedy OE Clutch kit and Fidanza 8lb Flywheel for $230 shipped. Exedy OE is definitely the way to go if you're stock or have a couple bolt ons.

i was taking 18-19 units each in fall and spring and 12 in summer.
i had to pay $192/unit. Once i became resident it was only $20/unit.

so my first year was 49units

No-worries with the exedy OE & fidanza flywheel set-up, you'll be good and you'll enjoy the lighweight flywheel.

No this is in state. I wouldn't go if I had to pay out of state too exspensive. Once my GI benifits kick in it will be all good. I had to pay up front and then get reimbursed.

Re: Best Clutch to buy?

Call me an idiot because I drive an auto but I'm sure a clutch is not something to cheap out on. eBay products are generally garbage, so be wary of off-brand eBay **** and also fake products. I know they make fake Tein stuff, wouldn't surprise me if some of their clutches were bogus.

Exedy is the company that makes the OEM clutches for our cars...so that's about as OE Spec as you can get.

My center force DF has done me very well for over 4 years of street racing and the drag strip, its very easy to drive daily and is made to not shock your drive train if you de-side to do a 7500rpm clutch drop to do a burn out when your three sheets to the wind.

Re: Best Clutch to buy?

thank you all you guyz for your responses and opinions.
I am decided on exedy oem clutch.
Right now my summer classes are going on(it will end this week). next week i am going to remove the clutch and flywheel and see if the flywheel can be machined and reused. if so iam going to do that. otherwise i will buy the fidanza.
i still have not sold the car that i am replacing with the prelude. so its ok if the prelude is left on jack stands while the new clutch(and maybe flywheel) gets home.
