2.5 inch or 3 inch?

Im sure this is usually debated on a regular basis. However My motor is not extremely built as I have at the moment is a CAI, and some DC headers. Im getting mixed opinions saying that 3 inches is the best way to go for strong builds such as turbos, but considering i wont be boosting any time soon will sticking with a 2.5 inch exhaust system give sufficient back pressure? I had a feeling that with 3 inch I would lose some actually. Just need some thoughts, Thanks
