Check Engine/ATTS

Ok so we were driving home last weekend from the import alliance meet in Nashville and my boyfriend thinks hes gonna be cool and race with the car beside us. So when he kicked it my ATTS light and my Check Engine Light came on. Is this something I need to get looked at or can I just find a way to make the lights go off... I know what ATTS is but I just need to know if I need to get it fixed ASAP or can it wait?

Yeah, the car is fine to drive, the ATTS just won't work until you do get it seen about.

Re: Check Engine/ATTS

you could take the gauge cluster out and pull the bulb out or w.e it is back there. but if i were u i would bring it to honda or whoever knows what they are doing with hondas and get the codes pulled for the atts to find out why the light came on..it can be a bunch of different things..i got my atts fluid changed when i got my car because i didnt know when it was done last when the guy before me had it. thats simple preventative maintenance that can save u alot of money in problems.

You can reset the codes, not advisable, but doable. Just take out your radio fuse or disconnect the negative battery cable for 3 minutes. It resets diagnostics.

Re: Check Engine/ATTS

I would get it looked at, when I was looking for my 5th Gen. Every single SH I looked at and drove had a check engine light and the ATTS light was lit. Hince I bought a base

Re: Check Engine/ATTS

best idea:: i had the same thing happen when i messed with my idle speed.. your ATTS light comes on because ATTS will not work when you throw a CEL... so ATTS shuts down automatically... the CEL has a code that needs to be read.. rather than shutting it off or taking out a bulb like these guys think will help... if something is wrong with the lude.. don't you want to know??.. so take it down to an auto store where you live (( in VA we have AUTO ZONE, ADVANCE AUTO PARTS)).. they will let you hook a small OBD computer into it our OBD reader..super easy to use.. it will tell you what the code is. and a brief description.. the OBD computer has a reset button which will reset your CEL codes. if you can fix the problem the light will stay off of course. fi ou cant fix it. erasing and resetting the codes will only turn off the light temporarily...

sometimes preludes are touchy machines. and hitting the reset button might just solve it. sometimes people disconnect the battery for about 10 min which resets it sometimes also.. GL.. never let a CEL light go unchecked..it's there for a reason.. taking the bulb out just prolongs your cars possible death.

Re: Check Engine/ATTS

Yeah We have an Advanced and an Auto Zone. I was thinking about doin that to see what it told me. That seems like the more wise thing to do! Thanks

Re: Check Engine/ATTS

ok i have an sh so ill clear some things up for you.

anytime you throw a cel, the atts light automatically comes on.

so therefore you dont worry about that atts and now focus on the cel.

you can go to advanced or autozone and they can check what its throwing.
im sure its something just read wrong...
o2...cat...all those are very very sensitive on our cars...

so now all you gotta do is take the negative cable off of the battery for a couple minutes...
pop her back on and drive...
if the cel returns then its time to resource the issue at advanced again and fix the problem..

btw..
you were parked behind me sunday at ia and i am in looove with those wheels haha
