not sure if or when i should change my vtec solenoid.

not sure if or when i should change my vtec solenoid.

hey pz i recently bought a 99 prelude base wid a 122k on the clock.
i did a tune up already an all the fluids are good. Now im thinkin should i change the vtec solenoid. How would i know if it is good? an is there anyway to clean it?

Yes you can replace the gasket that you can buy on inlinefour.com. Sometimes they get dirty inside there and it would be a good idea to replace after 122k on the clock.

to test the solenoid u should just be able to jump 12v to it and hear it click

Why in the world would you want to change out your vtec solenoid? If you hit 5500 rpms and your motor is screaming at you, your vtec solenoid is fine. Don't fix what ain't broken ya feel meh?

I just suggested to change the gasket because they get pretty dirty over time. I agree with smokey there is no need to change the whole thing out.
