intake manifold vacuum line

Had problems with my idle then bought new AICV and FIV then idle got better but still drops when AC is on and doesnt stay at the same rpm.when i installed my CAI i removed some black box by the battery and there was some vacuum lines going to intake manifold wich is not connected to anything right now, i was wondering if that could be the problem.thanks ahead.

Re: intake manifold vacuum line

anywhere. either shove a screw/bolt into the end of the vaccum line, or completely remove the entire line if you have a cap that goes on the IM.

the idle drops in every single car when you turn AC on, because the AC uses the engines power to run the AC compressor, stealing some of your HP.

Re: intake manifold vacuum line

if it was the one connected to the stock intake, i'm pretty sure it was to control some butterfly valve that was in the bottom of the intake, near the resonator. so if you've put in another intake, you can take it out.

Believe it's a vacuum box? Not 100% sure though. You just have to remove the two hoses and plug the 2 outlets on the back of the IM (that face the firewall). Should fix your problems.

Re: intake manifold vacuum line

An IAC motor is highly susceptible to carbon and coking build up; if an IAC goes too long without cleaning it can cause stalling and poor idle quality. Some cars are designed with a large vacuum transfer hose that connects the intake manifold to the IAC (idle air control) motor. If a broken or dilapidated these vacuum lines can cause the engine to lose vacuum which will allow the engine to run rough and die. Inspect all engine and accessory vacuum lines to look for missing, torn or dilapidated lines and replace as needed. Any car that is designed with a magnetic non-motor operated IAC like Lexus is subject to carbon and should be cleaned about every 40,000 miles to avoid stalling.
