Re: driver side door

Why do you open your doors from the passenger side? Does your drivers door not unlock. On most cars including my lude my passenger door only opens the passenger door.

Re: driver side door

If your testing the date theory. That you unlock the door for your gf and if she doesnt unlock your door you dump her. Well if your drivers door doesnt open shes in your car all alone :p

the reason i do it is because the cylinder on the driver side is messed up. i could put the key in but i cant turn it.

My locks are totally out. Unlock AND Lock. I was thinking maybe it's the battery? Well I was HOPING, that's what it was. I'm about to get a viper alarm system, but I dont want them to install it only to find out my lock mechs are broke..

Re: driver side door

kevon54: if your car starts and everything it wouldn't be the battery
to the OP: I really don't know what it could be. it might be that the actuator for the locked just stopped working. or it could be some crazy electrical problem. your best bet is to just take it to the Honda dealer and see what's up

Re: driver side door

On the back of the key cylinder, there is a switch that turns when you turn the key. You can access it by removing the interior door panel. Using a multimeter, you can test the switch to make sure it functions correctly. Are the lock/unlock switches by both inner door handles functioning?

Re: driver side door

If you have the same thing as me, the motor is shagged. Mechanic at honda said its a common problem, they start to wear out then will stop working altogether. He did not look at it himself but was quite sure thats what it would be.

Re: driver side door

When I unlock my passenger door both unlock...Unlock driver side door... driver side only unlocks...Use my remote....both doors unlock. It's most likely the actuator...they are known to fail on any car over time...You could try to replace it yerself if you feel comfortable doing it,I dont think they're to exspensive?? If not, take it somewhere...theres no way in hell i'd be crawling over my passenger seat...Then again I'm 6'2 250... So not unless I had too..

i think the actuator is weak. when i set the lock i cant pull the driver side lock with my fingers but when i unlock it it becomes easier to pull.

Re: driver side door

That's weird, on mine it only unlocks one door regardless of which side I unlock from...

However, if I turn the key and hold it turned like that the second one will unlock about 3 seconds later, most cars with power locks and no remote do this though...
