Code 12

So this pass Sunday Bustr and I were working on my car and he had a idea to customize and make a EGR block off. So we disconnected the EGR from it's original spot and strapped it to the side and slapped on a metal plate over where the EGR use to be. We then put the small hose that was connected to the EGR to now one of the small pipes on the upper side of the throttle and we left the plug still connected to the EGR itself. Then yesterday the CHECK ENGINE CEL came on while heading to my other job.

I checked it out and it turns out to be a CODE 12 which is the EGR issue.

What else is there to do to get rid of that CEL?!

I'm thinking that if I disconnect the batt terminal that the CEL will jus come back on like before.

Any ideas?!

Re: Code 12

its called a ECU workaround, this mod was not done by me and i don't not claim and damages done anyways, put a switch between your ecu's power saver wire. every time your light comes on, shut the car off, then press the switch to cut power to ecu and it will erase your memory.

i dont think you know how the ecu works. let me put it in a way you understand: the ECU is the mother of several children( sensors and actuators). every time the mom wakes up it needs to check to make sure she has all of her children s in place, ready to go. when a pervert takes one of the childrens! she freaks out and calls 911 (check engine light). but the cops cant do anything (aka driver). To make her forget about her one child that went missing, the cops(you) give her some drugs and she forgets (pulling your fuse, disconnecting -terminal, etc..) but sooner or later she will notice the her child is missing again and will call 911 AGAIN !!! (your check engine light). that's why you have to trick the mom into thinking she has all her children with her. the ecu workaround that i mentioned
THE END

FYI: ive done this, so i know.
