Skunk 2 springs

I'm interested in buying some skunk 2 lowering springs for my 5th gen,
and i'm wondering if they would mess up my shocks if i only put on the springs.

Re: Skunk 2 springs

im runnin the skunk2 springs. i ran them with stock struts for about a year without any problems but these were brand new oem struts. s2 springs will also throw your camber off a great deal. you will need to purchase a camber kit to run these springs. if you have the extra cash i would also recommend buying some aftermarket struts: kyb and koni are the leading choices.

Re: Skunk 2 springs

i have skunk2 springs on my 4th gen and its low for my car
I personally think they're too low for stock shocks, but i've been riding on 130k+ mile shocks with these springs. And i'm surprised by the quality of them. If ur gonna get new shocks i suggest getting the good adjustable ones.

Re: Skunk 2 springs

I'm running skunk2 lowering springs and my ride is pretty rough even with KYB AGX set to their highest setting. I can't image how terrible the ride would be on OEM shocks. The skunk2's have a good drop so I'd imagine your shocks will blow at some point and you'll be either paying someone to install new shocks or doing it yourself. My time was worth the money to buy decent shocks and do it right the first time even though I feel the AGXs are inadequate. If I could do it all over again I'd have coughed up the money for GC + Konis or not have done it at all. Oh and you will need a camber kit cause your rear camber will be off like crazy.

Re: Skunk 2 springs

Sure, but if you go through the whole trouble of putting on the springs only to tear it all down and do it again in a few months or maybe a year? Doesn't seem worth it to me...

But **** man its your car, the worst that can happen is your shocks blow and your ride goes from bouncy to unbelievably bouncy.

Re: Skunk 2 springs

orrrr u can just get a coilover set for like 6-700 instead of doing springs, struts, and camber adjusters. More adjustablility

so when you say highest do you mean stiffest? bc of course its gonna ride like sh!t when they're as stiff as they'll go. my agx make the car float when set to the softest setting. its pretty close to stock ride comfort. the stiff setting is only for running the twisties.

agx's are great for the money, imo. if you want something better then go with the koni yellows.

I thought if I ran AGX on softest settings it would bounce like crazy?

Re: Skunk 2 springs

no, mine dont. just try it. i dont understand how you drive with them set on the stiffest setting. i drove all day at the gap like that, and my back was hurting by the end of the day. if its too soft for your liking at the softest then turn them up one setting. i run setting 2 daily, unless i go on trips that involve lots of interstate travel then i go to 1.
