Re: 10w-40 oil

I'm not 100%, but I think there's other threads on here about stuff like that. Anyways, 10W 30 is recommended, however I use 10W 40 from spring to fall in my 5th and v-tec works just fine. I do however change my oil every 3k to 4k (just cause I want to).

cocaine is only a problem with the 4th gens tho, the long dash makes a great place to do a line.

Re: 10w-40 oil

i ran 10-40 for 3 oil changes, and it ran fine. Check your wiring also, just make sure the vtec solenoid is plugged in. And its definately time to change ur oil.

5w-30 is what is supposed to go in the engine just for the record.

5 MUTHER F*CKING W - 30!

get it through your heads people
memorize it

anyway. I use 10w-40 every oil change. It isn't going to harm anything and sure isn't going to keep vtec from working.

It helps prevent wear, extends engine life, prevents oil burn off... blah blah blah

Re: 10w-40 oil

Currently I'm running 0W-30, I wanted to try it out for the winter and I just haven't changed my oil yet. Personally I don't like 10W-30.

... wow really? I guess it must be freezing cold up there to use 0w-30 but I would have changed it when it warmed up.

Re: 10w-40 oil

i use 10w-40 but that's what's recommended here for my car.
since alot of ye use 10w-30 or 5w-30 i decided to go onto the castrol website and i put in that i was in ireland and they said use 10w-40 like i am. then i put in that i was in america in a climate above 14 and they recommended 10w-30 and in a climate below 95 you should use 5w-30

Re: 10w-40 oil

my mechanic told me to use 10W-40 since my car has 102 K. "10w-30 is what the dealership put, but as your car gets more mileage 10w-30 is too thin" Someone let me know if he's talking ****!

the user manual recommends 5w30 for the h23 and 10w30 for the h22, and depending on the temperatures where you live 10w30 for the h23. I use 5w30 year round in my 176k miles h23 and it runs like a top.
