Rubbing sound

Hey guys, I have found another 2001 Prelude base that I like. It has 85k on the odo. Here's a link if you want to take a look http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true Anyway I went with a friend to check this car out and it was actually really clean. Only a couple minor flaws which were the sunroof would go up but not go backwords to open(doesn't leak), needs a new timing belt since it is 8 years old, the back right fender is a little bit hardly popped out like the previous owner back into something, and when my friend test drove it we all heard a rubbing noise coming from the back right side most likely the wheel. The steering wheel did not shake or anything, we think the car just needs new brake pads. Do you guys think that would cause the rubbing noise?

Re: Rubbing sound

is the car lowered? when does the rubbing noise happen? is it only while moving? does it happen or get worse under certain conditions such as acceleration, braking, turning, coasting, etc.. help us out with a better description of the problem. if it needed new brake pads it wouldn't be a rubbing noise it would be a squealing noise.

Re: Rubbing sound

The car is not lowered, everything is stock except for the cai. The noise seems to happen when we are moving/coasting from what I can remember. It didn't make the steering wheel vibrate or anything.

Re: Rubbing sound

is it repetitious or constant or completely random? and does it get worse or louder under different conditions like cornering, accelerating, breaking, going over bumps?

Re: Rubbing sound

It was constant. I think it has to do with the rotor. I think the rotor was grinded a lot so it needs a new one + brake pads.

Re: Rubbing sound

I had a problem like this on my integra, turned out to be the rear hub.

Re: Rubbing sound

check if pads are worn then- replace em, check if rotor is worn - replace em.. and see if the rubbing then stops bro process of elimination
