Falling asleep

Lately when I gas it randomly wouldnt pick up as fast like it feels sluggish. And also when I let go of the gas and let it roll the RPM needle would drop down to 1000 RPM and randomly drop down to 0 RPM for a split second and then bounce back up to the normal 1000 RPM, but when it does drop to near 0 RPM that the car vibrates as if it's not getting enough air and about to shut down.

The RPM needle isnt bouncing like as if I had the VSS issue where it would bounce up and down, but that it randomly drops near to 0 RPM and then go back up to the normal idle level.

Mind you that I havent cleaned out my throtttle for over 1 year now.

Could the random dropping down to 0 RPM and sluggish pick up be due to a dirty throttle?!?!

Re: Falling asleep

try cleaning out your IAC valve, because it sounds like a typical dirty/clogged valve.

After that, if that didn't work, inspect your spark plugs, check spark plug wires, check for vacuum leaks and check your radiator to see if it's full of coolant or not.

Re: Falling asleep

^spoke to Bustr about that and he said to clean that would be due to the idle bouncing up and down continuously. Mine only drops once in a blue to near 0 RPM and then bounce back to the 800 RPM and stay there.

Re: Falling asleep

Well, it doesn't hurt to clean out the carbon that has been built up between the screens in the IAC valve. A clogged IAC doesn't make the RPM go up and down continuously(like a faulty TPS or FIV problem), it makes it fall down to almost 0 RPM like in your case due to faulty coolant readings back to your ECU. It'll cut to near 0 RPM then go back up to 1000 like you said because the ECU is readjusting. I had the same exact problem in 2 other Hondas i've owned and both were cured with just a 2 minute cleaning of the valve.

Have you searched for this issue? thomas97(amongst others) had the same exact problem you are describing. Have you checked the other suggestions i listed?

Re: Falling asleep

brandon brian is right in all that he said...

plus we talked about you needing a tune-up about 6-8 months ago and i guarantee you didn't get one. lol.

did you happen to check you hoses on the EGR valve? make sure they are still connected, not cracked, leaking, or loose.
