Re: people who put on spoilers themselves

I put my spoiler on myself, and didn't even pop the hood. Come to think of it, why would fitting a spoiler, which is an exterior body part require isolation of battery terminals?

Re: people who put on spoilers themselves

Well if he bought a spoiler with a third brake light that would require him to unplug the old wing to plug the new in... Just make sure to measure twice and cut once. The guy I bought mine from bought an aftermarket spoiler, drilled the holes and they were all crooked. So I put it on to see how bad it was...terrible. one inch gap on one side and about a 2 1/2 inch gap on the other :\

Re: people who put on spoilers themselves

ANyone must be dumb to mis-install a stock spoiler on a fifth gen. I did mines myself, and Ive never done something like this before. The holes are marked right under the trunk, all you need to do is drill them. Follow the directions on how to do it though.

Re: people who put on spoilers themselves

u should'n have to disconnect the battery though.. if it had a 3rd break light.. just dont cross any wires when hooking it up.. u might short some stuff out or blo the light bulb/fuse etc.

i got my type S lid and spoiler (with brake light) for $250 CAD
I just cut the wiring from my US harness, soldered on the JDM pigtail and the USDM tip. Not gonna disconnect the battery, all im doing is provide heat to the wire, a wire which is not hot until i press the brake.

Re: people who put on spoilers themselves

Been poking around forum. Just added factory/OEM spoiler and front lip to 97 Prelude and got car painted (factory Arctic Silver). Will post pics soon. Trying to figure out how to connect spolier brake light (2 sire connector coming out of trunk hole from spoiler) into factory harness. Don't understand exactly what you guys did to git-r-done. I'd guess Honda would use 1 wiring harness whehter spoiler or not and would find connector in wiring tube that runs by hole where spoiler brake light wire comes through hole. Can you explain how I connect spolier brake light and disable existing 3rd brake light?

push the third brake light toward the back window and take it out. unhook the harness and put it in the trunk. cut off the connector and just splice the trunk wires into the wire you just took out of the third brake light

Yeah i don't think you'd have to unplug the batts if you don't have a third brake light on your spoiler...just doesn't make sense. YO FirstLude, i think i remember you from another one of our meets in Long Island NY last year...you were the only guy from Canada! haha
