exhaust manifold cover painted

hey i was wondering if anyone has ever painted an exhaust manifold cover. I bought a new one an im thinking of painting both my valve cover plus the manifold cover but i want to know if i can use the same paint. Also does anyone have pics of how it looks when its painted?

Re: exhaust manifold cover painted

I believe there's a few pz members that have painted the manifold cover, you'll just need to use high-temp paint, but if you're planning on getting an aftermarket header later, i'd put it off homie

Re: exhaust manifold cover painted

Paint it or polish it. Paint is easier to maintain.

Re: exhaust manifold cover painted

they make some engine block paint that i seen when i worked at Oriellys that withstands up to 1000-1500 degrees i think. the also make BBQ grill paint that withstands up to 1000 degrees, we have it at Ace hardware where i work now. the engine block paint comes in more colors than black tho.

Re: exhaust manifold cover painted

When you painted your manifold cover did you use any type of gloss cause it sure looks like it?

the one i bought is brand new. i think now i may jus leave it. cuz my car is white an if i paint the valve cover, it will be a red color(the valve cover) an then a black exhaust manifold mite look kinda weird. so i most likely wont paint it.

Re: exhaust manifold cover painted

I just wonder if anybody might provide a link or some info as far as where to buy a new exhaust manifold heat shield. 99PreludeQZ said that he's bought a new one. Where? I'd like to replace mine (old and getting rusty) with a new one. This would be for 1999 Prelude Base model.

Re: exhaust manifold cover painted

I used silver alloy wheel paint on my one and I have had no problems with it.
