Catalytic converters

My Check engine light has been coming on in my 1999 prelude for my catalytic converter for a long time. I had it replaced with a magnaflow with 2.5inch inlet/outlet because im getting a custom 2.5inch exhaust made in a few weeks. I wasnt having a problem until yesterday my CEL came on again. I was talking to the guy who is making my exhaust and he said that i probably got a OBDI catalytic instead of an OBDII converter. Is there really two types of converters?

Re: Catalytic converters

No, just two types of sensors.

Re: Catalytic converters

the obd1 converter has less pladium then the obd2 converters. If the second 02 sensor doesn't get hot enough then the CEL comes on.

Re: Catalytic converters

Double check and make sure the sensor didn't come loose and then clear your ECU memory (unplug battery for about 5 mins). If that don't work then I don't know, that's what happened to me, and that's what I did.
