My prelude wont pull anymore

Hey guys i wanted to vtec a lil today since i got a good amount of gas, i noticed i was not goin back into my seat as i normally would when i hit vtec.. Vtec still engages.. I checked my oil dipstick and the oil only goes half way from the end to the first hole, how much oil should i add and is this the reason my car feels slower? Also, what kind of oil do i have to use can i add any?

well ur oil level is low if it is only half way to the 1st hole.... the bottom hole is the minimum oil level and the top is the max

The whole point of it is to help cars with some mileage on it.

Re: My prelude wont pull anymore

ya your oil level should be just below the top hole. So in other words you have a 1/4 of oil in it right now. keep filling until its just below the second hole. DO NOT GO OVER THAT SECOND HOLE. not good for engine. But ya do a complete oil change. Change the filter and your oil. Alot of times when your low on oil your Vtec wont kick in the way it should or it wont even kick in at all. And in time ,using Vtec with low oil is just asking your engine to go boom.

Re: My prelude wont pull anymore

How long ago did you add the oil when you got the car?

If it wasn't that long ago, like only 1 or 2k miles, i'd say the rings are going or your valve stem guides are worn and leaking oil from the valve bay into the cylinders.

Check your spark plugs for oil.

Re: My prelude wont pull anymore

1. change your oil, use 5w-30 and stick to the same brand.
2. check your sparkplugs/wires, it might be time for a tune up.
3. buy that seafoam and suck half a can through the brake booster hose into the intake manifold, shut the car off for 15 min, then go drive the piss out of it until all of the white smoke is gone. do this on backroads bc there will be an excessive amount of smoke.
4. pour the other half of the can in a full tank of gas.

Re: My prelude wont pull anymore

You might want to add enough oil to top it off to the 2nd hole!!!
If the VTEC still becomes an issue then...

Try this out and see if it works?!?!

Re: My prelude wont pull anymore

Okay so i added oil today, and its close to the 2nd oil which means good oil level, i warmed my car up and i did a few 2nd gear pulls, it still feels weaker then it should..when im flooring it it seems like im only pressing it 85%...

Maybe this should help u guys help me ..i have a mugen twinloop exhaust, before i noticed my car felt weaker, i could let go of the throttle at like 2-3k rpm on 1/2/3 gear and it would sound BEAST like an sti rumble, now its not doin that it just sounds smooth...also will a tune up make my car feel faster if i really do need a tune up? For example spark plugs timing belt and water pump

Re: My prelude wont pull anymore

CHANGE YOUR OIL!!! you have no idea when it was last changed, that means you need to change it as soon as you can. for all you know the oil could be thick and chunky hindering performance. from what you have said you, it seems like you run the piss out of your car constantly. if your spark plugs are bad then you might feel a small power increase with some new plugs. you only need to change your tbelt/water pump/tensioner every 90,000 miles.

maybe your clutch is starting to wear. you can do a compression test to see what your numbers are. have you pulled your spark plugs yet?
