timing issue

i wanted to know if the timing was off in my car would that make it misfire? also it will not go past 6500 rpm, when i go from 3rd to 4th. that is when i am hitting 100 mph when i shift into 4th it will not go past 4900 rpms?


i have changed a lot of parts.

timing belt
water pump
fuel filter
spark plug/wires
map sensor
distributor
aem intake v2
catalytic
02 sensor
oil cooler O ring
all belts
new alternator
new battery
new gaskets

well what motor do u have... im assuming h22 but im not telepathic... does vtec engage at all or just until 6500...are u odb1 or 2,

and yes if timing is off it can cause a misfire....

i have a h22a it engages in every gear except 4th at 5200, cuts off at 6800

does it get past 6800 in any gear

yes i do i did take the car to honda for the timing belt last year then the car sat for the winter

It is a 5th gen... since it is in the 5th gen section... so here in the good ol' usa that means h22 unless swapped... if it was swapped I'm sure he would have mentioned that lol
and he is probably obd2 since 5th gens came out in 97 unless he changed it himself.

Try finding another stock ECU and see if that helps... even if it's just unplugging one from another 5th gen and borrowing it for 5 minutes just to see if it fixes it or not... if it does then you can buy another one.
