Greddy SP2 vs. Skunk 2

So I know that there aren't very many exhaust systems to choose from for the base model prelude. So between the SP2 and the Skunk 2 exhaust which one do you think is better performance wise? The Skunk 2 is louder, which i don't like. I know it comes with a silencer, but do you really think i'm gonna sport a silencer the whole time? I like the SP2 for it's quietness and low profile look. I just want you guy's opinion if i should sacrifice quietness for performance. It's an all motor setup. Professionally built by a reputable shop. The skunk 2 is what they recommended best bang for the buck. Right now, I'm running JDM dynamic air intake kit, Skunk 2 intake manifold, Megan headers, and a random tech hi flow cat. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Greddy SP2 vs. Skunk 2

If you REALLY want performance the best thing to do is go custom.

There are a few different header makers out there that have really good gains.

Custom piping with a muffler of your choice is probably going to be your best bet for performance. Kteller makes piping kits for our car.

That megan header you have is not helping with performance, its pretty much the same as stock.

Re: Greddy SP2 vs. Skunk 2

damn, i knew those megan headers were too cheap to be true. I heard they got pretty good gains for the money. It was like a last resort type buy because I couldn't find anything else. I did come across kteller earlier before i bought them and the reason i didn't get the kteller is because i didn't know too much about it. I do want a nice set of custom headers at some point. I really can't do much with my car right now but research parts. I'm like a million miles away from the lude in some hott sandy region of the world. you guy's help is much appreciated.

Re: Greddy SP2 vs. Skunk 2

the sp2 is one of the cleanest sounding exhausts out there for the lude.. Well, was, because they discontinued it for the 5th gens. Thats actually the one I was supposed to get like 4 months ago before i got the EVO2, which is not a bad sounding exhaust at all. I love it but its louder so if youre looking for quieter exhaust note you should go for the apexi ws2. Skunk 2 is really loud and not to sound cocky but the evo2's sounds wayy cleaner than the skunk 2's.

Re: Greddy SP2 vs. Skunk 2

People can say it sounds like **** all they want but my skunk 2 sounds better then any lude around.

http://preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=13547

And im the only one that can back my **** up with a write up. Its not loud, only above 4,000rpms. The silencer works wonders and still sounds great, and with a resonated test pipe, its real smooth. Gives a nice pop and crackle on decel for me. Ive even had Evo guys tell me how nice my honda sounds.

Straight pipe, no cat, no resonator, no muffler. Make it 4" piping.

Re: Greddy SP2 vs. Skunk 2

Okay this whole thing about saying megan racing headers are bad, My buddy put them on his prelude and got a 9 whp gain and when i put them on mine i got a 7.4 whp gain. So i dont know why everyone thinks they're so bad. Yes there probably are better but for the price I dont feel it was a bad buy. As for he exhaust, i have the Skunk 2 on my 01 prelude and love it. I noticed a pretty nice gain with mine but Im not sure how much.

yea, idk about a 9whp gain, unless the car was turbo'd and it was a manifold, then ok....

Re: Greddy SP2 vs. Skunk 2

Stealthx47 the video you did on the skunk 2 exhaust made me feel better about buying it. I must have watched that video several times. As for the Megan headers, I don't care what anyone says. Those things look nice as hell. I have yet to drive my car because I've over seas, but as soon as I get home you better believe that I will have a video with a dyno sheet.
