prelude shaking while in neutral? please help

I was driving around yesterday and decided to gun it, when i was going into fourth gear i messed up and the rpms red lined pretty bad for a second. When i pulled up at a stop light the car started shaking but when i start driving everythings fine. Then i went out today to see if it still shakes(which it does) and while in neutral the car revs just a tiny bit on its own.. Please can anybody tell me whats wrong here?

Re: prelude shaking while in neutral? please help

I honestly don't think it's much of a problem, but then again I don't have a manual trans.

On my auto however, when stopped for a prolonged period of time in D4, my car will shake a bit. When I throw it in neutral, it stops. Sorry I couldn't really help you man, but I honestly don't think it's gonna blow your engine or anything.

im confused............you were in 4th and just throttled it more and just happened to rev line it?

or you downshifted wrong?

over rev could lead to a toasting clutchhh

Re: prelude shaking while in neutral? please help

i was going from 3rd to 4th and didnt put it all the way in gear so when i hit the gas it redlined at like 8500 rpm,i dont think its the clutch because the whole engine is shaking way more then it should. i was thinking it could be an engine mount?

What does it idle at? It might be that the idle preset screw might be loose and could also very well be an engine mount.

Re: prelude shaking while in neutral? please help

or if he really did over-rev as bad as it sounds like, prolly floated a valve, skipped timing, or something else dealing with a destroyed head, which is why its not idling properly/stalling.
