5th gen prelude timing belt

Ok im about to go and buy another lude but the lady says that the timing belt broke on her and its a 5 speed with only 128k miles... the timeing belt went out and she pulled to the side of the road and shut her off...

Ok my question is are these preludes bad for bent valves or rods or anything that has to do with breaking a timing belt.... oh yea and im gettin the car for 2000 dollars clear title and great interior and exterior...

Let me know guys.

Re: 5th gen prelude timing belt

lmfao 2000, thats a ripofffff

if she was @ highway speeds when it broke, chances are about 80% you bent one/multiple valves, as well as the valves smacking against the pistons and damaging them as well.

if she wasn't going very fast, theres a small chance that nothing got messed up, but i wouldn't take that chance. i'd offer 1500 at most

tell her you'll do 2 grand if she gets the timing belt done on her. but it has to be at your mechanic to know everything is A-ok

Re: 5th gen prelude timing belt

hey guys already checked everything out and the valves were not bent everything is awsome up under the hood.... changed all belts and the two crank sensors that are behind the belt and overall the car runs great. It needs nothing and the paint and the interior are amazing. No rust or anything ... oh yea and the car came with two 10 inch rockford fosgate subs and a RF 900W amp ..... sounds great. But no lights or anything. Car is completely stock. only thing it needs in near future will be the valve cover gaskets and seals. overall thats about it.

Oh an im a mechanic.... so it dont cost me anything to do the work... but i only spent about 300 in parts. crank sensors would have been 238.00 but luckly i know the guy who works at Orielly's. so i got it for 140.00
