Serious Gauge Help Needed!

Ok . so here is the break down of whats going on. I have a dual guage pod. one oil pressure one voltmeter. Ok so i couldnt find the gauge i wanted so i put a cheap gauge in while the nice auto meter voltguage was on order... So i had one autometer gauge( oil pressure ) and a cheap brand volt meter ( dull light and it wasnt that nice) so i wired it up to the fuse box and the dimmer switch and it worked awesome. So my autometer gauge came in and i installed it. It works fine and reads 14.5 volts. So i went out for a night drive and i go to turn on my dash lights and snap i hear the fuse blow. so i looked down and sure enough number 10 fuse (tail lights) 15A fuse was blown. i though what could the problem be?? so i totally Re wired the entire thing using the proper 18 gauge wiring. and i go to turn it on today and snap. once again. So F*ck. here we go again. so i checked my tail lights and sure enough to of my bulbs are burnt out. so i just totally took out my tail lights and un hooked the wiring harnesses for them. i put a new fuse in and snap. again. It happens as soon as i turn on the dash , like immediatly. my lights still work as well as my brake lights. so i am lost. please guys i need help. Im not a noobie at this stuff and im so puzzled. I have a car show to attend on the 21 of june so i need to figure this out! any help is going to be realllly appreciated! thanks so much.

Re: Serious Gauge Help Needed!

well clearly you are getting a short somewhere.
Maybe try wiring the volt meter into a different source of power?
Im kind of lost on where your wiring is running to and from.

Do you have just two wires coming from the gauge? One from a +12V source and another to ground?
I had gauges in my old accord and if I recal, the volt meter only had 2 wires... but who knows that was a while ago

yeah, unwire all the meter wires, and rewire again. you're shorting on somewhere.
